About the Center

Al Baha Region Municipality established the (Municipal Innovation Center) in aspects and fields of entrepreneurship related to municipal work, leveraging the latest trends and modern technologies while providing the necessary resources. The Municipal Innovation Center will act as a catalyst for innovation and creativity and encourage and guide entrepreneurship in various fields of municipal work, contributing to sustainable development and quality of life by providing a platform for collaboration, research, and development and working to promote a culture of innovation. The Municipal Innovation Center will also contribute to achieving the municipality’s objectives, the growth of the region’s cities, and enhancing their competitiveness.

We are committed to supporting entrepreneurs and innovators and guiding their ideas and projects to serve the municipal sector, helping them access the knowledge and tools necessary to transform their ideas into successful projects that contribute to the development of the cities of Al Baha Region.

Objective

The Center aims to promote a culture of entrepreneurship, innovation, and creativity in the fields of municipal work and utilize them to achieve various objectives and indicators in municipal operations according to the following goals:

Strategic Objectives:

1. Fostering a Culture of Innovation: Spreading the culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in the municipal sector and encouraging individuals and institutions to provide innovative solutions to challenges facing municipal services.

2. Supporting Entrepreneurs: Providing the necessary support to entrepreneurs and innovators in the municipal sector by facilitating access to training programs, incubators, mentoring, and funding.

3. Developing Innovative Solutions: Developing innovative solutions to improve municipal services and operations, increase operational efficiency, reduce costs, improve services in cities, and enhance the quality of life.

4. Building Strategic Partnerships: Establishing strong partnerships with the private sector, universities, government entities, the non-profit sector, and the community to enhance innovation and creativity in the municipal sector.

5. Measuring Impact: Developing a system to measure the social and economic impact of the Center’s projects, initiatives, and outputs, and evaluating the extent to which the specified objectives are achieved.

Target Groups:

1. Entrepreneurs and Innovators in the Municipal Sector: This includes individuals and startups that work or wish to work in the field of municipal services, such as waste management, sanitation, afforestation, maintenance, visual distortion treatment, municipal volunteering, and others.

2. Small and Medium Enterprises: This includes companies working with the municipal sector that seek to develop new products or services related to municipal work.

3. Various Community Segments: This includes individuals and groups interested in participating in the development of municipal services and providing proposals and creative solutions.

4. Educational Institutions: This includes universities, schools, and research centers seeking to enhance innovation and creativity in the field of municipal services through student and research projects.

5. Relevant Government Entities: This includes other government entities that may benefit from the Center’s services or contribute to supporting its activities.

6. Municipality and Affiliated Municipalities Employees: This includes administrative and technical staff and specialists within the municipality and affiliated municipalities who wish to participate by providing solutions, initiatives, and innovations to develop and enhance municipal services.

The Second Municipal Innovation Hackathon in Al Baha Region:

Al Baha Region Municipality is organizing the "Second Municipal Innovation Hackathon," a strategic initiative aimed at enhancing municipal development and the urban economy. The hackathon targets entrepreneurs, investors, innovators, students, experts, government entities, and the private sector who are interested in developing innovative solutions to the proposed challenges. The hackathon challenges focus on finding high-quality and innovative solutions aimed at supporting institutional efficiency and digital transformation through 8 main tracks:

2. Urban Planning and Humanizing Cities Track

3. Honoring the Deceased Track

4. Community Partnerships Track

5. Urban Landscape Improvement Track

6. Emergencies and Crises Track

7. Investment Development Track

8. Beneficiary Experience Improvement Track

The hackathon includes defined challenges and opportunities for participants to develop practical and implementable solutions. According to the proposed timeline for the hackathon activities, the registration period begins on 18/8/2026 and the event continues until the results are announced in September 2026. This initiative is expected to produce significant outcomes, including generating promising entrepreneurial projects, strengthening partnerships, and providing innovative solutions that contribute to achieving sustainable development goals and enhancing the urban economy in Al Baha Region in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030.
