Al-Baha Municipality Conducts Field Simulation for Flood Response Using Smart Sensors
Al-Baha Municipality, represented by the General Department of Emergencies and Crises, conducted a field simulation to respond to flood risks and recovery from drainage network failures using smart sensors. The exercise aimed to enhance field readiness and improve coordination among participating teams.
The simulation included a scenario mimicking flash floods, utilizing smart sensors for the first time since their recent installation. Specialized field teams reviewed evacuation and rescue plans, immediate response mechanisms, and assessed the readiness of equipment and personnel to test the effectiveness of field procedures.
The Municipality emphasized that these simulations are part of efforts to strengthen early preparedness and joint coordination, stressing that public safety is a top priority. It noted that integrating roles between various entities helps mitigate disaster impacts and protect lives and property.
Notably, Al-Baha Municipality has employed smart technologies by installing approximately 302 smart sensors. These devices provide accurate, real-time readings of water levels at locations carefully selected by specialists based on field studies of water collection points in culverts, bridges, and streams. This technology supports proactive field decision-making and enhances coordination with relevant authorities to minimize potential risks during rainfall.
