Al-Baha Municipality Launches Major Afforestation Initiative in Partnership with Environmental and Community Entities

Today, the Secretary of Al-Baha Region, Dr. Ali bin Mohammed Al-Sawat, launched the "Legacy of Green Al-Baha" initiative, in the presence of the Director General of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture branch in the region, Engineer Fahd Miftah Al-Zahrani, and with the participation of a number of government entities, non-profit associations, volunteer teams, and scouts, along with more than (700) volunteers.

The initiative aims to plant more than (20,000) native seedlings in the city of Al-Baha and its affiliated governorates, including walkways, gardens, public squares, and central islands; contributing to enhancing environmental sustainability and improving quality of life.

Dr. Al-Sawat explained that more than (11) government and civil entities are participating in implementing the initiative, noting that planting works will include all governorates of the region in squares and public parks. He confirmed the integration of efforts of various entities in implementing afforestation initiatives, supported by volunteer teams led by the municipality, with wide participation from volunteers.

He pointed out that Al-Baha Municipality continues to implement afforestation initiatives according to the best modern irrigation methods; contributing to rationalizing freshwater consumption, increasing the use of treated water for tree irrigation to more than (85%), in addition to expanding green spaces and achieving financial efficiency in operation and maintenance through smart irrigation technologies.
